Winners by Continent
In 17 editions of the Football World Cup only American and European National Teams have taken home the trophy. Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay total 9 championships, just one more than the titles won by the Europeans Italy, Germany, England and France.
One interesting detail is that with the exception of the two consecutive championships won by Italy and Brazil, the winner never was from the same continent as the previous champion. Here you have the details:
